Basketball Recap: Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot Comes Up Short

Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot and Brunswick Academy squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot had to settle for second. They fell 36-27 to the Brunswick Academy Vikings. The loss continues a trend for the Knights in their matchups with the Vikings: they've now lost seven in a row.

Despite the defeat, Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Molly Hamner posted nine points and seven boards. Hamner is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last three games she's played.

Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot's loss dropped their record down to 10-10. As for Brunswick Academy, the victory was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-2.

Looking ahead, Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot will host Wakefield School at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Wakefield School's defense has only allowed 20.2 points per game this season, so Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot's offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Brunswick Academy, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 31-28 win against Southampton Academy on the 22nd.
