Baseball Game Preview: Eastwood Eagles vs. Maumee Panthers

Eastwood and Maumee are an even 3-3 against one another since March of 2021, but likely not for long. The Eagles will welcome the Panthers at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Eastwood 3.2, Maumee 2.6) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Maumee will be up against a hot Eastwood team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. The Eagles never let Genoa Area get on the board and left with a 3-0 win on Saturday.

The result came thanks to Paul Lautzenheiser's shutout, as he gave up just three hits and racked up nine Ks. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Jack Sensenig was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Those two hits gave him a new career-high.

Meanwhile, Maumee didn't have quite enough to beat Perrysburg on Saturday and fell 6-5.

Eastwood pushed their record up to 21-5 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.9 runs on average over those games. As for Maumee, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 16-8.
