Softball Recap: Prout Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Prout, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They had just enough and edged out the Westerly Bulldogs 6-5. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 5-3 back in April.

Lily Sheehan spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned runs on ten hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Emma Manzo was excellent, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Rachel Dias, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Prout pushed their record up to 9-6 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of one runs across that stretch. As for Westerly, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-9.

Prout has already played their next contest, a 13-3 win against Ponaganset on the 18th. As for Westerly, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, an 8-2 loss against Chariho on the 18th.
