Softball Recap: Millersport's Loss Ends Three-Game Winning Streak at Home

Millersport dropped their record down to 12-5 on Friday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins at home. They fell 4-0 to the Fisher Catholic Irish. The matchup marked the first time this season in which the Lakers were not able to get on the board.

Kendyl Bonkowski spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Millersport saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Emma Raver, who went 1-for-3 with one double.

As for Fisher Catholic, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 games. That's provided a massive bump to their 11-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games.

On Fisher Catholic's side, the result came thanks to Lauren Kersell's shutout, as she gave up just a hit and racked up nine Ks.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Harper Kline, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Millersport will square off against Trimble at 5:15 p.m. on Monday. The Lakers are facing the Tomcats at the right time seeing as the Tomcats are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Fisher Catholic, they will challenge Miller at 5:15 p.m. on Monday. The Falcons have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 15.91 runs per game on average), something the Irish will no doubt try to take advantage of.
