Softball Recap: Hermleigh Extends Winning Streak to Six

Hermleigh came tearing into Tuesday's match with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They were the clear victor by a 15-0 margin over the Knox City Greyhounds. 15 seems to be a good number for the Cardinals as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Peyton Miller was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She also tossed a walk, marking her first of the season. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Hailey Minton was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-2. She has been hot recently, having also posted at least one home run the last three times she's played. Hallie Ellerbe was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Hermleigh was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .542. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .444 or higher in six consecutive contests.

Hermleigh's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-1. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Knox City, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

The teams wasted no time getting back out on the field as they've already faced off again: they played to a 0-0 tie later that day.
