Elba came tearing into Thursday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 31 points) and they left with even more momentum. They enjoyed a cozy 55-41 victory over the Brantley Bulldogs. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 56-33 two weeks ago.

Despite the defeat, Brantley saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Alex Grimes went 6 for 12 on her way to 17 points along with six rebounds and three steals. The matchup was Grimes' fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Sa Leah Johnson, who posted 12 points and three steals.

Elba's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-2. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.0 points per game. As for Brantley, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-8.

Elba won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Pike Liberal Arts at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Brantley, they will be playing in front of their home fans against McKenzie at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday.
