Softball Recap: Julian Takes a Loss

Julian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost an 18-17 heartbreaker at the hands of the Ocean View Christian Patriots. Even if the Eagles couldn't come away with the victory, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.

Avalina Magante-Ortiz stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she scored a run and stole two bases while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Charlee Sparks, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-5.

Even though they lost, Julian was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .465. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Julian's loss dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Ocean View Christian, their record now sits at 3-1.

Coming up, Julian will head out to face off against Bonsall at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Bonsall will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Julian surely won't give up without a fight. As for Ocean View Christian, they will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Warner at 3:30 p.m. on the 10th.
