Baseball Recap: Atascadero Gets the Win

Atascadero posted their closest victory since February 28th on Thursday. They came out on top against the Paso Robles Bearcats by a score of 5-4 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). The win continues a trend for the Greyhounds in their matchups with the Bearcats: they've now won five in a row.

Evan Churchill was excellent, going 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024.

Churchill wasn't the only one working in the home run department: Atascadero lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Atascadero's victory bumped their record up to 6-4. As for Paso Robles, their loss was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-7.

Atascadero and Paso Robles could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. Atascadero will challenge Kingsburg at 4:00 p.m. on Friday down 184 places (330 vs. 146). Meanwhile, Paso Robles (ranked 686th) will meet Clovis West (ranked 116th) at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
