Baseball Game Preview: Polk County Wolverines vs. Brevard Blue Devils

The Polk County Wolverines will head out on the road to square off against the Brevard Blue Devils at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Polk County will be strutting in after a win while Brevard will be coming in after a loss.

Polk County not only won last Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since March 1st. They put the hurt on Mountain Heritage with a sharp 10-4 victory.

Nate Fagan spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered four earned runs on eight hits. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Polk County is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 4-5 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Avrey Hensley was excellent, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits he has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Noah Harden, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Polk County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .387. They are 3-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Meanwhile, Brevard didn't have quite enough to beat Hendersonville on Friday and fell 7-6. The Blue Devils have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

The win got Polk County back to even at 6-6. As for Brevard, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-7.
