Softball Recap: Mountainside Picks Up Second Consecutive Win

Mountainside came out on top against Century on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive ten-run third inning. The Mavericks never let the Jaguars get on the board and left with an 11-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Mavericks, who have now won four matchups by ten runs or more so far this season.

Tenley Jukkula was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. She also hit a triple, marking her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Avery Gaoiran, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run.

The win made it two in a row for Mountainside and bumps their season record up to 5-2. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 2 run in those games. As for Century, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 5-3.

Looking ahead, Mountainside will host Sherwood at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Mavericks 1.3, the Bowmen 1.6) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Century, they will square off against Sprague at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
