Softball Recap: Middleton's Undefeated Season over After Ten Games

Middleton blew Vallivue out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Tuesday Vallivue got their revenge. Middleton fell just short of Vallivue by a score of 11-9. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Vikings, who until this match were averaging 2.7 runs allowed.

Natalie Miklancic and Kenadi Whitlow stepped up to the plate in a big way. Miklancic went 1-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Whitlow went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Sadie Stafford, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run.

Having lost for the first time this season, Middleton fell to 9-1. As for Vallivue, their victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-2.

Coming up, Middleton will face off against Capital at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Middleton's pitchers better be ready for this one: Capital has averaged an impressive 11.6 runs per game this season. As for Vallivue, they will take on Caldwell at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Caldwell has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 6.57 runs per game on average), something Vallivue will no doubt try to take advantage of.
