Southwood is headed into Thursday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Tuesday. They lost 41-21 to Mansfield.
Southwood got a massive performance out of Haleigh Roberts, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with five RBI, two runs, and one double. That double marked the first that Roberts hit this season. Another player making a difference was Ayanna Lister-Mosley, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases, four RBI, and one run.
Meanwhile, Loyola College Prep made easy work of North Caddo on Wednesday and carried off a 14-2 win.
Larkin Krieg made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4. What's more, she posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in March.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Presley Walker, who scored four runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Jillian Drouillard, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.
Loyola College Prep was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as North Caddo only posted a batting average of .250.
Southwood's defeat dropped their record down to 1-13. As for Loyola College Prep, their victory bumped their record up to 7-12.
