Basketball Recap: Saturday's Loss Ends Springwood's Winning Streak

It was a good run, but Springwood unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Saturday. The match between them and the Valiant Cross Academy Warriors didn't end well, with the Springwood Wildcats falling 65-47. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 185th, while the Warriors are ranked 26th).

Valiant Cross Academy found their leader in sophomore Deshawn Hall, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 12 rebounds. Hall is on a roll when it comes to boards, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last 47 games he's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jersey Farbes, who went 5 of 9 on his way to 11 points along with five assists and five rebounds.

Springwood's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-6. As for Valiant Cross Academy, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 21-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Springwood will challenge Konos Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Springwood is facing Konos Academy at the right time seeing as Konos Academy is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Valiant Cross Academy, they will take on Evangel Christian Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
