Preview: Leland Comets vs. Grand Traverse Academy Mustangs
Leland has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the Grand Traverse Academy Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
Leland suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Wednesday. They were dealt a 74-20 loss at the hands of Glen Lake. Leland was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 42-10.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Grand Traverse Academy, who are still winless after their eighth match. They had to suffer through a rough 77-28 loss at the hands of Harbor Light Christian. While losing is never fun, Grand Traverse Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 752nd, while Harbor Light Christian is ranked 286th).
Leland bumped their record down to 3-7 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home. As for Grand Traverse Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-8.
Everything came up roses for Leland against Grand Traverse Academy in their previous matchup back in December of 2023 as the squad secured a 67-12 win. Does Leland have another victory up their sleeve, or will Grand Traverse Academy turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
