Softball Recap: Pelham Gets the Win

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Pelham ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 9-8 win over the Bow Falcons. For the Pythons, this counts as revenge for the 7-0 victory the Falcons walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2025.

Caileigh Aguiar was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out ten batters over eight innings while giving up seven earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one run and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, Kacey Normandie was incredible, going 3-for-5 with one home run, two stolen bases, and four RBI. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April. Aubrin Berger was another key player, going 4-for-5 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.

Pelham kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive games.

Pelham has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-8 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games. As for Bow, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-5 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Pelham will take on rival Merrimack Valley at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. Meanwhile, Bow is set to challenge their familiar foe Sanborn Regional at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
