Volleyball Recap: Loyola Academy Comes Up Short

Loyola Academy lost against Metea Valley back in April of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Ramblers fell 2-0 to the Mustangs.

Metea Valley's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Om Patel led the charge by getting 21 assists and five digs. That's the most digs Patel has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Aariz Hashwani, who had 16 digs and two assists.

Loyola Academy has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-12 record this season. As for Metea Valley, the victory got them back to even at 7-7.

Loyola Academy and Metea Valley could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings. The Ramblers (ranked 82nd) will meet Belleville East (ranked tenth) at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Meanwhile, Metea Valley will face off against Benet Academy at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday with a big rank disadvantage (98 vs. 31).
