Basketball Recap: East Moline Christian Comes Up Short

East Moline Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They were dealt a 47-20 loss at the hands of the Morning Star Academy Mustangs. The Eagles were down 39-14 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

Violet Jewell continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Morning Star Academy, going 6 of 10 en route to 16 points and five boards. Jewell has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last six times she's played. Another player making a difference was Aliviona Vesey, who posted two points and six steals.

East Moline Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 2-11. As for Morning Star Academy, they pushed their record up to 14-5 with the win, which was their third straight on the road.

East Moline Christian won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Berean Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Berean Christian's defense has only allowed 29 points per game this season, so East Moline Christian's offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Morning Star Academy, they will also get right back to it: they'll face off against Varsity Opponent at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
