Volleyball Recap: Van Buren Starts Season with Victory at Home

Van Buren took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Saturday. They put the hurt on the Cory-Rawson Fighting Hornets with a sharp 3-0 victory. That's more bragging rights for the Black Knights, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Van Buren took every set by at least 11 points. The final score came out to 25-12, 25-14, 25-7.

Brooklyn Wilkin paced Van Buren's offense, picking up 11 kills. Wilkin got some help from Lydia Ponn and her 23 assists. Ponn was also solid from the service line: she led the team with six aces.

Van Buren will host Fostoria at 6:15 p.m. on Monday. As for Cory-Rawson, they will be playing at home against Riverdale at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
