Volleyball Recap: Carlvin Valdez's Big Game Can't Quite Lead West Valley over Elsinore

The West Valley Mustangs lost 3-0 to the Elsinore Tigers on Wednesday. The Mustangs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

West Valley was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the first set very close. The match finished with set scores of 25-22, 25-10, 25-20.

West Valley's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Carlvin Valdez, who had eight digs and two aces. Valdez has been hot, having also posted 16 or more assists the last six times he's played. Another player making a difference was Diego Allievi, who had 11 kills and eight digs.

West Valley's loss dropped their record down to 7-10. As for Elsinore, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-3 record this season.

West Valley will take on Tahquitz at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. West Valley is facing Tahquitz at the right time seeing as Tahquitz is stuck on an eight-game losing streak. As for Elsinore, they will face off against Roosevelt at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Roosevelt will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Elsinore surely won't give up without a fight.
