Football Recap: Ezekiel Academy Comes Up Short

Ezekiel Academy fell victim to Evangel Christian and their airtight defense on Friday. They had to suffer through a 38-0 loss at the hands of the Lightning. Having soared to a lofty 40 points in the game before, the Knights' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Parker Weston threw for 34 yards on seven of 12 attempts. Terrence Sankey was his top target, picking up 32 receiving yards. On the ground, Noah Sawyer rushed for 28 yards.

Eli Black had another great game (as he tends to do), throwing for 154 yards and a pair of touchdowns while completing 71.4% of his passes, and also rushing for 53 yards and one score for Evangel Christian. The dominant performance also gave Black a new career-high in passer rating (153.3). Trey Hope was another key player, picking up 83 receiving yards and two TDs.

Ezekiel Academy now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Evangel Christian, their victory bumped their record up to an identical 2-3.

Ezekiel Academy wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 48-6 win against Trinity Christian Homeschool on the 26th. As for Evangel Christian, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 50-14 victory against Lighthouse HomeSchool on the 26th.
