Basketball Recap: Port Neches-Groves Takes a Loss

Port Neches-Groves lost against West Brook back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Port Neches-Groves Indians took a 62-44 bruising from the West Brook Bruins. While losing is never fun, the Indians can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 431st, while the Bruins are ranked 12th).

Leading West Brook to victory were Seth Bagneris and Elijah Garrett. Bagneris went 6 of 9 on his way to 17 points, while Garrett went 8 for 20 en route to 16 points and seven boards. The contest was Garrett's fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Terry Satcher, who posted six points and five rebounds.

Port Neches-Groves has been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last ten matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-13 record this season. As for West Brook, the victory was the 24th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 27-1.

Port Neches-Groves will look to defend their home court on Friday against Sterling at 7:00 p.m. Port Neches-Groves is facing Sterling at the right time seeing as Sterling is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for West Brook, they will square off against Nederland at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. West Brook is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 65.1 points per game this season.
