Basketball Recap: Mt. Baker Comes Up Short

After flying high against Granite Falls two weeks ago, Mt. Baker came back down to earth. The Mt. Baker Mountaineers took a 56-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Meridian Trojans on Saturday. The Mountaineers have struggled against the Trojans recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Mt. Baker's defeat dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Meridian, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-2 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mt. Baker will venture away from home to face off against Blaine at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Meridian, they will square off against Lynden Christian at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (Lynden Christian has won four straight at home, while Meridian won three straight on the road), something that'll have to change.
