Football Game Preview: Hempstead Bobcats vs. Hitchcock Bulldogs

Hempstead is 0-10 against Hitchcock since October of 2015 but things could change on Friday. The Bobcats will face off against the Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. Hempstead has given up an average of 37.4 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Hempstead is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against Yoakum on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Bobcats were outmatched by the Bulldogs and fell 48-13. While losing is never fun, the Bobcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 1079th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 271st).

Meanwhile, the third road matchup was the charm for Hitchcock, as they earned their first away victory of the season. They breezed past Hallettsville to the tune of 34-7 on Friday. The Bulldogs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by 21 points or more this season.

Hitchcock is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 12.2 points on average over those games. As for Hempstead, their loss dropped their record down to 1-6.

Hempstead was taken down by Hitchcock 61-0 in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. Can the Bobcats avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
