Hope Christian falls despite strong effort from Savanah Sanchez

Recap: Hope Christian Huskies vs. Albuquerque Academy Chargers

The Hope Christian Huskies suffered their biggest defeat since December 15, 2023 on Saturday. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 57-37 walloping at the hands of Albuquerque Academy. Hope Christian was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 32-11.

When it comes to explaining why Hope Christian lost, one person who can't be blamed is Savanah Sanchez. Despite the final result, she scored 11 points along with two steals. Sanchez is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. Adalynn Day was another key contributor, scoring six points along with three steals.

Albuquerque Academy's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Addie Spratley, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Lily Skarsgard, who scored 19 points along with four steals.

Hope Christian has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-12 record this season. As for Albuquerque Academy, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 13-5.

Hope Christian will head out on the road to square off against Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Valley focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Saturday. As for Albuquerque Academy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Del Norte at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Del Norte and Albuquerque Academy are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads.
