The Pleasant Home Eagles will venture away from home to challenge the Samson Tigers at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Pleasant Home has given up an average of 10.4 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Pleasant Home came into their game on Monday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 18-0 to Kinston. The Eagles haven't had much luck with the Bulldogs recently, as the team has come up short the last nine times they've met.
Meanwhile, Samson had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Bulldogs with a sharp 18-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won nine contests by 11 runs or more so far this season.
Ryleigh Jackson made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2025. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Holly Warren, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Kynlee Sormrude, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
Samson kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive matchups.
Samson's record is now 12-8. As for Pleasant Home, their loss dropped their record down to 6-8.
Pleasant Home might still be hurting after the 16-3 defeat they got from Samson when the teams last played two weeks ago. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
