The Washington Eagles are on the road again on Saturday to play the Burton Pumas at 12:00 p.m.
Last Wednesday, Washington was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 12-6 to Terra Linda.
Meanwhile, Burton waltzed into their matchup on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. Everything went their way against the Spartans as they made off with a 33-7 win. The Pumas' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Khrisla Abuan and Richelle Hammon were among the main playmakers for Burton as the former threw for 118 yards and two touchdowns while completing 78.9% of her passes and the latter rushed for 48 yards and a touchdown. Those 48 rushing yards gave Hammon a new career-high. Promise Nelson made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
Burton didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off six passes before the game was over. Nelson led the group effort, picking up three of those interceptions all by herself.
Washington's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3-1. As for Burton, their victory bumped their record up to 5-3.
