Softball Recap: Modoc Braves vs. Mt. Shasta Bears
While Modoc's win against Mt. Shasta wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Braves sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 victory over the Bears on Friday. The win was nothing new for the Braves as they're now sitting on three straight.
Caelli DePaul was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with three stolen bases and one run.

In other batting news, Ashlynn Albright was excellent, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with three stolen bases. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high.
The victory got Modoc back to even at 9-9. As for Mt. Shasta, they dropped their record down to 9-9-1 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.
The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Modoc beat the Bears by a score of 8-4 later that day.
