Baseball Recap: Tracy-Milroy-Balaton Comes Up Short

Tracy-Milroy-Balaton fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Red Rock Central/Westbrook-Walnut Grove on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Falcons by a score of 5-4. The Panthers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Falcons apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Trevor Smith was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits (and only one walk). He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with two runs and one double.

In other batting news, Griffin Zick made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 4-for-4 with two RBI and one double. Another player making a difference was Connor Lanoue, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one run.

Tracy-Milroy-Balaton now has a losing record of 9-10. As for Red Rock Central/Westbrook-Walnut Grove, their win bumped their record up to 9-6.

Looking ahead, Tracy-Milroy-Balaton will be playing at home against Pipestone at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Red Rock Central/Westbrook-Walnut Grove, they will square off against Springfield at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
