Volleyball Recap: Columbia Comes Up Short

Columbia was the 3-0 winner over Palacios when they last played one another back in August of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Roughnecks fell just short of the Sharks by a score of 3-2 on Friday.

Columbia took Palacios into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking two-point loss. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-14, 25-22, 24-26, 22-25, 17-15.

Loss or not, Columbia got some senior leadership from Abby Miksch and Natalie Flores. Miksch had 23 digs and three aces, while Flores had six digs and two aces. Those 23 digs set a new season-high mark for Miksch.

Columbia's defeat dropped their record down to 5-7. As for Palacios, their win ended an eight-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 8-2.

Columbia has already played their next contest, a 2-0 loss against Little River Academy on the 23rd. As for Palacios, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 2-1 victory against Louise on the 23rd.
