Baseball Recap: Fort Kent Gets the Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Presque Isle, Fort Kent was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out the Wisdom Pioneers 9-8. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Warriors also won the last time the pair played back in May of 2024.

Dominic Cyr made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (two). He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Tyler Taggett, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Those two hits gave him a new career-high. Tobias Naranja also deserves some recognition as he got his first hits of the season.

Fort Kent hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wisdom struck out 13 times.

The win got Fort Kent back to even at 2-2. As for Wisdom, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 2-2.

Coming up, Fort Kent will venture away from home to face off against Southern Aroostook at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Southern Aroostook will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last. As for Wisdom, they will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against Fort Fairfield at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Tigers will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Pioneers surely won't give up without a fight.
