Volleyball Recap: Alton Redbirds vs. Jersey Panthers
Alton lost against Jersey back in September of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Redbirds took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Panthers. The Redbirds have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-18, 25-15.
Alton's offense was headlined by Angelina Dulaney and Ja'Kayla Steen, who picked up five kills apiece. They were helped by Gracie Milford and Mackenzie Cochran, who contributed eight assists each. Lucy Lehmann controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.
Alaina Laird was the offensive standout of the matchup as she had ten digs. That's the most digs she has posted over her last six contests. Maggie Alexander also deserves some recognition as she served her first ace of the season.
Alton's defeat dropped their record down to 7-15. As for Jersey, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season.
Alton wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 2-1 loss against Southwestern on the 22nd. As for Jersey, they have also already played their next contest, a 2-0 defeat against Highland on the 23rd.
