Northwest Crossroads Top Player Performances of the Week

Congratulations to this week's top players! We're covering the best performances from Friday's football action (using all statistics entered as of the time of writing). Enjoy!

Marco Castro's Big Game Leads Kankakee Valley over Highland

Thanks in part to Marco Castro, Kankakee Valley said goodbye to their five-game losing streak. Castro was unstoppable on Friday, rushing for 213 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 11.8 yards per carry, and also picking up 32 receiving yards. His rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his fifth straight game with at least 105 rushing yards dating back to last season.

Castro is probably looking forward to his next game, a home matchup against Munster on Friday. Back in October of 2023 (the last time Castro saw the Mustangs), he rushed for 320 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 10.7 yards per carry.

Willy Shearer Delivers Electric Performance Vs Hammond Morton

While Willy Shearer delivered a dominant effort on Friday, a win just wasn't in the cards for Hobart. Shearer was unstoppable, rushing for 79 yards and three touchdowns. He has become a key player for Hobart: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns, but 2-3 otherwise.

Hammond Morton had to have seen this coming; the last time they saw Shearer it was a similar story. Back in October of 2023 (the last time Shearer saw the Governors), he rushed for 230 yards and five touchdowns.

Lowell Gets a Boost from Kalwinski in 36-19 Victory

Brody Kalwinski was a major factor in Lowell's victory over Munster on Friday. Kalwinski turned in nothing short of a gem, rushing for 43 yards and two touchdowns, while also throwing for 123 yards and a touchdown on only seven passes.

Munster's probably not too fond of Kalwinski given he always seems to get the better of them. Back in October of 2023 (the last time Kalwinski saw the Mustangs), he rushed for 103 yards and three touchdowns on only nine carries, and also threw for 39 yards and a touchdown.

Diego Arroyo Turns in Season-Best Effort

Diego Arroyo produced his most outstanding game to date while leading Kankakee Valley to the win on Friday. Arroyo rushed for 22 yards and two touchdowns, and also threw for 127 yards and a touchdown on only ten passes.

Highland had to have seen this coming; the last time they saw Arroyo it was a similar story. Back in October of 2023 (the last time Arroyo saw the Trojans), he threw for 268 yards and four touchdowns on only 17 passes.

A Season-Best Effort from Colton Scott Leads Lowell over Munster

On Friday, Lowell got the W thanks in part to Colton Scott playing the best football he has all season. Scott rushed for 85 yards and two touchdowns on only eight carries. His longest rush was for an impressive 56 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total.

Unfortunately for Munster, this isn't the first big game they've seen from Scott. Back in October of 2023 (the last time Scott saw the Mustangs), he rushed for 118 yards and a touchdown on only eight carries.
