Basketball Game Preview: Pacifica Tritons vs. Dos Pueblos Chargers

Pacifica is 1-7 against Dos Pueblos since December of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Pacifica Tritons will venture away from home to challenge the Dos Pueblos Chargers at 7:00 p.m. Pacifica is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 61.2 points per game this season.

It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 81-34, which was the final score in Pacifica's tilt against Oxnard on Monday. The match marked the Tritons' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Despite their defeat, Pacifica saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Anthony Calica, who posted nine points, was perhaps the best of all. Another player making a difference was Tommy Williams, who put up ten points.

Meanwhile, Dos Pueblos ended up a good deal behind San Marcos on Wednesday and lost 64-50. While losing is never fun, the Chargers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 494th, while the Royals are ranked 94th).

Dos Pueblos has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-10 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.5 points per game. As for Pacifica, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-10.

Pacifica ended up a good deal behind Dos Pueblos in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, losing 68-53. Can Pacifica avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
