Softball Recap: Union County Extends Road Winning Streak to Five

Union County barely beat Claiborne the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Patriots blew past the Bulldogs 11-1 on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Patriots, who have now won seven matchups by eight runs or more so far this season.

Union County's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-8. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.4 runs over those games. As for Claiborne, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-7 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Union County will host Powell at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Panthers' pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so the Patriots' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Claiborne, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Greeneville at 5:30 a.m. on Tuesday.
