Baseball Game Preview: Mesquite Wildcats vs. Arcadia Titans

The Mesquite Wildcats will face off against the Arcadia Titans at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Mesquite will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last.

On Friday, Mesquite didn't have quite enough to beat Campo Verde and fell 11-10.

Andres Lozano led a balanced group of hitters, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Gunnar Gift, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and four RBI.

Meanwhile, Arcadia came up short against Saguaro on Thursday and fell 6-3. The defeat continues a trend for the Titans in their meetings with the Sabercats: they've now lost six in a row.

Arcadia also got a good showing from Gehrig Heil, who pitched 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits. Heil has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Grant Erickson made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3. LJ Donahue was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Mesquite's loss dropped their record down to 14-7. As for Arcadia, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-14.

Mesquite skirted past Arcadia 3-1 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Will the Wildcats repeat their success, or do the Titans have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
