Recap: Wray Eagles vs. Dundy County-Stratton Tigers
Even though the Wray Eagles have not done well against the Dundy County-Stratton Tigers recently (they were 0-6 in their previous six matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. Wray came out on top against Dundy County-Stratton by a score of 64-57. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Wray to victory, but perhaps none more so than Rydge Peterson, who scored 15 points along with six steals and five rebounds. That's the first time this season that Peterson scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Rafael Trejo, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 13 rebounds.
Despite the loss, Dundy County-Stratton still got an impressive performance from Jackson Kerchal, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 16 rebounds. Kerchal scored a full 28.1% of Dundy County-Stratton's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was August Shaw, who scored 18 points.
Even though they lost, Dundy County-Stratton were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wray only pulled down 21 offensive rebounds.
Wray's victory bumped their record up to 3-4. As for Dundy County-Stratton, their loss dropped their record down to 8-3.
Wray will head out on the road to face off against Burlington at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Burlington focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 25 on Saturday. As for Dundy County-Stratton, they will be playing at home against Hitchcock County on Tuesday. Hitchcock County has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 319 points over their last five games.
