Basketball Game Preview: Newton Railroaders vs. Andover Central Jaguars

The Newton Railroaders are taking a road trip to take on the Andover Central Jaguars at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.

Last Tuesday, Newton lost to Andover at home by a 65-48 margin. The loss continues a trend for the Railroaders in their matchups with the Trojans: they've now lost six in a row.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Andover Central faced off against Goddard on Tuesday. Andover Central walked away with a 52-43 win over Goddard. Given the Jaguars' advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 109th, while the Lions are ranked 250th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Andover Central had a senior duo take command as Brody DeGarmo went 8 of 12 en route to 18 points and five rebounds and Jayden Brown went 6 for 12 on his way to 14 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points DeGarmo has scored all season.

Newton's defeat dropped their record down to 5-7. As for Andover Central, their victory bumped their record up to 8-5.
