Basketball Recap: McNeil Comes Up Short

McNeil was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were two points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 59-57 heartbreaker at the hands of the LBJ Austin Jaguars. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Mavericks have suffered since January 23, 2024.

LBJ Austin was led to victory by Antione Baker and Marquis Murry Ii. Baker dropped a double-double on 17 points and 13 rebounds, while Murry Ii dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Dadrian Johnson Jr, who posted ten points and six assists.

McNeil's defeat dropped their record down to 4-15. As for LBJ Austin, their record now sits at 8-12.

McNeil wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 76-65 loss against San Marcos on the 27th. As for LBJ Austin, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 55-42 defeat against Richland on the 28th.
