Football Game Preview: Notre Dame Green Knights vs. Law Lawmen

The Notre Dame Green Knights will take on the Law Lawmen at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Notre Dame is headed into Friday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight games dating back to last season on Friday. They were outmatched by Greenwich and fell 38-7. While losing is never fun, the Green Knights can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Connecticut football rankings (they are ranked 35th, while the Cardinals are ranked fourth).

Notre Dame didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Cody Wieland and Jace Fredette.

Meanwhile, Law played a tough game on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They took a blow against Killingly, falling 49-21. The loss put an end to the Lawmen's undefeated start to the season.

Notre Dame will have to keep a close watch on Matthew Witteman and Brian Gonzalez, a pair of players who had a big impact on Law's prior game. Witteman threw for 213 yards and a pair of touchdowns, while Gonzalez picked up 152 receiving yards and one TD.

Having lost for the first time this season, Law fell to 2-1. As for Notre Dame, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-3.

Notre Dame came up short against Law when the teams last played back in September of 2024, falling 41-33. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Witteman, who threw for 251 yards and four TDs, and also rushed for 60 yards and one score. Now that the Green Knights know the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
