Recap: Worthing Colts vs. Wharton Tigers
After a string of three wins, the Worthing Colts's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They lost to Wharton on the road by a decisive 46-31 margin. While losing is never fun, Worthing can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1018th, while Wharton is ranked 342nd).
Wharton got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was J?Honesty Smith out in front who scored 12 points. That makes it two consecutive games in which Smith has scored at least 25% of Wharton's points. Kadyn Smith was another key contributor, scoring 8 points along with 8 rebounds and 3 steals.
Worthing's loss dropped their record down to 4-6-1. As for Wharton, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Worthing will challenge Kashmere at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Wharton's road trip will continue as they head out to face East Bernard at 6:00 p.m. on December 5th.
