Football Recap: Evanston Takes Down Ranked Whitney Young

Evanston faced Whitney Young in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Wildkits took down the Dolphins 19-0. The victory was nothing new for the Wildkits as they're now sitting on four straight.

Evanston's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Maggie Conforti led the charge by throwing for 198 yards and three touchdowns. Conforti has been hot recently, having posted three or more passing touchdowns the last four times she's played. Evanston's leading receiver KyNia Hunt was Conforti's top target yet again, picking up 66 receiving yards and one TD.

Evanston didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Tariah McLendon and Hunt.

Evanston's win bumped their record up to 7-1. As for Whitney Young, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 10-1.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Evanston will face off against rival Regina Dominican at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Whitney Young is set to challenge their familiar foe Jones at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Dolphins 8.8, the Eagles 7.2) so any points scored will be well earned.
