Basketball Game Preview: Kennedy Commanders vs. Arrupe Jesuit Generals

The Kennedy Commanders will be defending their home court for the first time this season when they go up against the Arrupe Jesuit Generals at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

Kennedy is coming home in high spirits after they had to open their season on the road against Jefferson. Kennedy strolled past Jefferson with points to spare on Wednesday, taking the game 67-48.

Chauncey Loftin and Quinn Padilla were among the main playmakers for Kennedy as the former almost dropped a double-double on 19 points and nine boards and the latter went 5 of 9 on his way to 18 points. Those 18 points gave Padilla a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Anthony Zink, who almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine rebounds.

Meanwhile, Arrupe Jesuit took their game on Tuesday with ease, bagging a 65-32 win over Clear Creek. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 42-11.

Arrupe Jesuit found their leader in freshman Manuel Loya, who went 10 of 17 on his way to 25 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Louie Garcia, who posted nine points and five rebounds.

Kennedy suffered a grim 65-40 defeat to Arrupe Jesuit when the teams last played back in December of 2021. Thankfully for Kennedy, Anzel Navarro (who went 7 of 12 on his way to 17 points) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
