Softball Recap: St. Clair County Has No Trouble Against Jacksonville

St. Clair County won the last time they faced Jacksonville and things went their way on Tuesday too. The St. Clair County Fighting Saints were the clear victor by a 10-4 margin over the Jacksonville Golden Eagles. The result was nothing new for the Fighting Saints, who have now won eight contests by six runs or more so far this season.

The team relied heavily on Keili Nelson, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. What's more, she posted two RBI, the most she's had over her last 11 games. Another player making a difference was Tessa Parvin, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances.

St. Clair County has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-9-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. Jacksonville's loss dropped their record down to 7-10.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. St. Clair County will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Gulf Shores at 6:00 p.m. on March 28th. Jacksonville also won't see the field for a while: their next contest is against Wellborn at 5:00 p.m. on April 1st.
