Baseball Recap: Williston Comes Up Short

Thursday just wasn't the day for Williston's offense. They came up short against the Lafayette Hornets on Thursday, falling 10-0. Having soared to a lofty 17 runs in the game before, the Red Devils' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Williston's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-5. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Lafayette, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Williston will venture away from home to face off against Bell at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Bell is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.3 runs per game this season. As for Lafayette, they will head out on the road to take on Dixie County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Lafayette knows how to get runs on the board -- the squad has finished with ten runs or more in their past four matches -- so hopefully Dixie County likes a good challenge.
