Softball Recap: New Haven Bulldogs vs. Garrett Railroaders
New Haven had lost four straight on the road, but on Saturday they dropped their record down to 2-15 to make it five. They took a 6-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Garrett Railroaders. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Bulldogs of the 11-5 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.
New Haven saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Rakiya Jackson-Totton, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.
As for Garrett, their record is now 14-5. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
On Garrett's side, Ashlee Vanderbosch made a big impact no matter where she played. She tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Vanderbosch was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one double.
In other batting news, Sarah DePew was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
New Haven has already played their next matchup, a 17-8 defeat against Manchester on the 10th. As for Garrett, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 1-0 win against South Adams on the 10th.
