League recap: Trinity cracks Kentucky's top 25 rankings

District 27 league recap: 5/29/12

With a big week, Trinity jumped into the top 25 in the state rankings. Trinity moved up from No. 29 in the state all the way to No. 25 thanks to a 2-0 record over the past week. Led by manager Steven Tompkins, the Shamrocks are ranked No. 2502 in the nation with an overall record of 20-18.

Trinity beat Ballard this week, 10-2, in a matchup of the league's top two teams on Wednesday. Ballard sits in first place in District 27 at 5-0 (26-12 overall).

The Shamrocks' pitching staff dominated this week, allowing only 15 hits and nine walks, both of which led the league. Trinity has given up a mere 203 hits on the year, while striking out 247 opposing hitters. Austin Warner is the leader in that category with 92 Ks on the season.
