Basketball Recap: Grand Isle Comes Up Short

Grand Isle was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their tenth straight defeat dating back to last season. They took a blow against the Phoenix Spartans, falling 71-22. While losing is never fun, the Trojans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 357th, while the Spartans are ranked 148th).

Grand Isle's loss dropped their record down to 0-8. As for Phoenix, their win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-12.

Grand Isle will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Berwick at 5:30 p.m. on February 11th. Phoenix has already played their next contest, a 50-49 victory against Chalmette on the 3rd.
