Basketball Recap: Calvary Day School Drops Season-High Score on Atkins

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Calvary Day School). They blew past the Atkins Camels, posting a 97-57 victory. Given the Cougars' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 97th, while the Camels are ranked 534th), the result on Monday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Calvary Day School's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Owen Calvert, who posted 30 points and five steals. The contest was Calvert's 11th in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Caleb Autry, who scored 24 points and six boards.

Calvary Day School smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in three consecutive games.

Calvary Day School's victory bumped their record up to 12-10. As for Atkins, they dropped their record down to 2-16 with the defeat, which was their seventh straight on the road.

Calvary Day School has already played their next matchup, a 71-61 loss against Caldwell Academy on the 28th. As for Atkins, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, an 87-49 defeat against Dudley on the 28th.
