West Davidson has gone 8-2 against East Davidson recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Dragons are taking a road trip to take on the Golden Eagles at 6:00 p.m. West Davidson is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.9 runs per game this season.
West Davidson's usually-dominant pitching crew will be looking to make up for Wednesday's struggle, when Reagan hitters got past them. The Dragons came up short against the Raiders on Wednesday, falling 11-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Dragons have suffered since March 19th.
West Davidson saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Abigail Leonard, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.
Meanwhile, East Davidson waltzed into their game on Thursday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They were the clear victors by a 16-2 margin over the Wildcats. The result was nothing new for the Golden Eagles, who have now won eight contests by ten runs or more so far this season.
ALYSSA STALEY spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on four hits.
On the hitting side, Kenzi Cribb and Natalie Holt did most of the damage at the plate: Cribb went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and one triple, while Holt went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most runs Cribb has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Kyleigh Hedrick, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
East Davidson was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .529. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .393 or higher in three consecutive matchups.
East Davidson's victory bumped their record up to 12-6. As for West Davidson, with the defeat, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 13-7.
East Davidson's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Friday. West Davidson has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for East Davidson, though, as they've been averaging only 3.4 strikeouts. Will West Davidson keep running through batters, or will the Golden Eagles buck the trend?
West Davidson was able to grind out a solid win over East Davidson when the teams last played on April 1st, winning 6-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Dragons since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
