Softball Recap: Morehead Panthers vs. Rockingham County Cougars
Morehead extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping them down to 4-7. They came up short against the Rockingham County Cougars, falling 11-1. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cougars this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 9-0 on Tuesday.
Morehead saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brooklynn Wray, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one double.
As for Rockingham County, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 11-4. Considering they have won ten matchups by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
On Rockingham County's side, Ella Brannock was incredible, going 3-for-4 with five RBI, two doubles, and one run. Those five RBI gave Brannock a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Bella Jones, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.
We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Morehead is set to take on their familiar foe McMichael at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Rockingham County will square off against rival Bartlett Yancey at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
